Author John Steinbeck made a brief stop in Cabo San Lucas in 1940. His book, “Log From the Sea of Cortez,” describes a burro ride to a quiet Cabo cantina. Modern Cabo San Lucas bears little resemblance to Steinbeck's deserted fishing village. The town, located on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, has been transformed into a thriving vacation destination, with hundreds of hotels, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues.
